I get asked a lot of questions about being a wedding photographer. Naturally, people are always curious about what it’s like or what my favorite things are. But the number one question I get asked about being a wedding photographer is, “Do you ever get tired of shooting weddings?” Keep reading to find out my answer!
Generally it comes on a wedding day as I’m eating dinner or in down time when I’m chatting with wedding party or guests. People ask me about how I got into photography or what gear I’m shooting with. But, the question I always get asked time and time again is if I’m ever bored with weddings. If I’m being completely honest, sometimes I get tired of editing or scheduling out my instagram posts or working on other back end business things. But the one thing I never get tired of is working with couples and shooting weddings.
There’s something about spending time with a couple on their wedding day. Ultimately, I probably spend more time with the couple than the majority of the guests do. I get to be a part of almost all the big moments on their day, and the little moments too. I’m there for their first look, I get to experience them interacting during their portraits. I watch as the bride’s mom puts the final touches on her daughter. I’m there for the tears, the laughter, the joy.
Even after shooting over 100 weddings, I still get goose bumps as the bride walks down the aisle. I still cry during the father/daughter and mother/son dances. I laugh at the best man’s toast and I will never get tired of eating wedding cake. I’m all there for every moment I get to experience. I’m always so humbled that I get to be a part of so many couple’s best days!
So no. I never get tired of being a part of someone’s story. I get to capture so many things and give people memories that cherish for the rest of their lives. That makes it all worth it!
